How are Fire Glass Chips Created?

Fire Glass Chips from GlazChips™  are created from newly tempered glass to increase vibrancy, reflection and color. Tempered glass is tumbled and polished to prevent sharp edges and injury. It is also new and unused giving it proper characteristics and features for a fireplace or fire pits. The fire glass chips are designed for gas fire pits and gas fire places to tolerate high temperatures without melting, burning or discoloring when used as recommended.

GlazChips™  fire glass is appropriately tempered to ensure its quality and its ambient characteristics. Glass sheets of 1/4″ , 3/8″, and 1/2″ glass are new and retain its reflective mirror like quality and beautiful colors. GlazChips™ colored and reflective glass creates no toxic fumes, smoke, ash, or soot unlike traditional logs and lava rocks. • Yes, the glass itself radiates heat and provides a constant flow. GlazChips™ fire glass produces more heat than typical gas logs. Initially there is nothing blocking the radiant heat that is produced by the flame and glass.

How do I calculate how much Fire Glass Chips I need?

• Follow these simple steps below along with a tape measure, calculator, pen and paper.

1. Measure (in inches) the width of your fireplace from left to right and take note of the measurement. If your fireplace is angled back, measure the middle width.
2. Measure (in inches) the depth of the fireplace, from the front to the back wall and take note of the measurement.
3. Use the calculator to multiply the width (inches) by depth (inches).
4. Multiply the total by 3 or 4 depending on how deep you want the glass to be.
5. Divide total by 19.

This final number represents how many pounds of fireglass you will need for your fireplace.

GlazChips™ and True View recommends using approximately 70% in clear fire glass as a base and the remaining 30% in the colored or reflective fire glass you prefer. This is the most cost-efficient approach and will allow you to update your color at a minimal expense.

Is the glass sharp?

• Typically the glass is not sharp and can be handled with bare hands. However; it is still recommended that you use gloves.
